Artist's Description

In 1883, under the direction of industrialist Alexander 'Boss' Gibson, construction began of a cotton mill which was state of the art for its time. "Boss" Gibson named the company town that grew up around the mill 'Marysville' in honour of his wife. The Cotton Mill (now Marysville Place, home to provincial government offices) is situated along the the banks of the Nashwaak River, near Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. Marysville was named a National Historic Site of Canada in 1997 for being one of Canada's last intact 19th-century mill towns, which includes 19th century company houses and buildings patterned after those of British industrial towns. In 1973 Marysville became part of Fredericton North, New Brunswick, Canada

After a day of shooting, I really enjoy the post processing aspect of converting a simple photo into a piece of art. And you might ask, “Why?” As a young child in 1952 I contracted paralytic polio while living in the southern part of New Brunswick, Canada. Two years later our family moved to the farming community of Harvey Station close to Fredericton, New Brunswick's capital city, where I was...
