Artist's Description

The New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame is located in what is known today as the John Thurston Clark Memorial Building which officially opened on April 30, 1881 as Fredericton’s Post Office and Customs House. Built conspicuously in the center of the City of Fredericton, this three-storey building is a magnificent example of the Second Empire style, sporting exterior walls of pressed brick and stone, paired groups of tall windows, a mansard roof with ornate dormers, and a well-proportioned central tower topped with its still-visible iron lacework. The building has had many functions since then, including acting as a library and an exhibition centre before its current use. First World War soldier John Thurston Clark (1897-1921) suffered serious injury from poisonous gas and was invalided home but died from his wounds in 1921. Besides the beautiful scenery found along the 120 kms of continuous walking trails on both sides of the St. John River, my canvas includes historical buildings and popular events, draft horses and large breed dogs - all basically found out my backdoor. After a day of shooting, I really enjoy the post processing aspect of converting a simple photo into a piece of art.
